Meta is a critical marketing platform and one of the largest lines in many advertisers’ media budgets, yet it can be one of the hardest environments to measure accurately in a cross-publisher attribution model.
That’s because obtaining the appropriate deterministic ads data from Meta and other participating publishers can be a challenge for third-party attribution platforms leading many to implement modeled estimations.
A new view-through integration with DV Rockerbox™ changes that.
Limited Access Meant Limited Attribution
DV Rockerbox has offered deterministic view-through integrations with TikTok, Snapchat and Pinterest for several years. And while Meta was our customers’ most frequently requested addition to that portfolio, the industry environment historically limited visibility into impressions delivered across Facebook, Instagram, and its other properties, which affected deterministic multi-touch attribution.
What Meta View-Through Offers
Through a direct data partnership with Meta, we now receive deterministic view-through events. Every time the platform attributes a conversion to its own ads, it shares with us the touchpoints that occurred during the path to purchase. DV Rockerbox can use this data in our attribution measurement to show impressions and specific touchpoint types e.g. video views — not just clicks that led directly to a sale.
It’s Meta measurement built not on statistical inference but on what actually happened.
Built With Privacy in Mind
Meta view-through was designed within the guardrails of Meta's data-sharing requirements for this integration. Meta delivers impression-level data to DV Rockerbox to support matching and attribution modeling. In keeping with Meta’s requirements, only aggregated and anonymous measurement results are available in advertiser-facing reporting.
What This Means for Advertisers
With Meta view-through, DV Rockerbox delivers attribution our customers can trust. By aligning with existing view-through measurement on other social channels, it also provides a more consistent, comparable view of social performance across the board. And because this data flows into existing DV Rockerbox reporting, there's no new dashboard to learn or workflow to adopt.
Activation requires a few steps on the advertiser side. Advertisers should share a consistent order ID format with Rockerbox and Meta via CAPI or pixel, and grant DV Rockerbox permission to establish the integration.
Looking Ahead
Meta view-through integration reflects our broader push to work with direct, deterministic data wherever platform partnerships allow it. We encourage DV customers to advocate for direct data sharing with their publisher and walled garden partners.
